We often wonder where all the caffeine is consumed in America. Do office workers sipping on coffee all day account for the majority? Do athletes needing that extra edge consume the most? Do moms in need of increased energy boost any one particular city?

The answer is most likely a mix of all of the above. These are towns where nearly everyone is always on the go and in need of a caffeine pick-me-up. There are warm and cold climates, east coast and west coast and most of them are large urban areas where life moves just that added touch faster. All of them are places where inhabitants could use a little natural energy!

According to a new study released by Bundle, the results are in and America’s top ten most caffeinated cities are:

1. Chicago
2. New York
3. Seattle
4. San Francisco
5. Los Angeles
6. Washington, D.C.
7. San Jose, Calif.
8. Portland, Ore.
9. Miami
10. Minneapolis, Minn.

Something to consider when looking at this list – does this list constitute only coffee drinkers? Surely there are cities where energy drinks and caffeine supplements are more prevalent. But, if you look at this list, many of the cities on there are full of the hustle-bustle you would associate with needing added energy.

Many consumers like to start the day with a cup of coffee for a multitude of reasons, whether it be for a small jolt of caffeine or merely out of habit. But as the day wears on, and they get busy, they don’t have the time or the energy to find a coffee shop. Many people can’t afford the added calories or don’t want the taste of coffee.

That’s why the top ten cities should run on GreenCoffex! Our 8-hour sustained energy time release capsule are great for those on the go wherever they may be. It fits in your pocket, tastes like nothing and has zero calories. It’s good for moms on the go, athletes, caffeine junkies or anyone else looking for a general pick-me-up.

What do you think? Did your city make the list? Would your city make the list if it were only judged by energy drinks and caffeine pills – as opposed to java? Let us know in the comments below.

Here’s the deal.. lay out a case why your city (or even your house) should make the grade for one of America’s Most Caffeinated Places, and we will send you some GreenCoffex® to get you moving!

Turns out that we can add athletes to the growing list of those who can benefit from a natural energy pick-me-up, too! Recent studies have shown that caffeine coupled with a carbohydrate significantly boosts athletic performance. This is great news for athletes of any nature out there. Anyone from weekend joggers to professional football players will have an advantage with an increase of energy and improved concentration and reaction time.

So, how do they test this and how does it work exactly?. In the above study, scientists at the Sheffield Hallam University split a group of soccer players into two double-blind placebo-controlled groups. One received a caffeine-carb supplement and the other a placebo. Both groups were then put through a series of rigorous physical tests and activities designed to mimic a 90-minute soccer game to test their athletic ability. As one would expect, the group that received the supplement performed better physically – they performed the drills at a higher intensity with better shot accuracy and dribbling skills.

This is just one of an endless number of studies detailing the link between improved athletic performance and caffeine. Comprehensive studies date back as far as 1978 and involve a large range of sports.

While not every person or type of athlete may benefit from the consumption of caffeine prior to activity, the chances are that the right amount of it will. With some tinkering of the form, frequency and quantity of caffeine ingested, athletes can find their optimal caffeine intake and enjoy a step above the competition.

GreenCoffex® is the natural choice for athletes looking for caffeine to boost their sporting abilities for a number of reasons. For anyone that does not like the taste of coffee or want a stomach full of coffee during activities, a time-release capsule is a great option.

GreenCoffex® is better than other caffeine pills because it contains only two ingredients – green coffee extract (a natural, clean source of caffeine) and time release coating that ensures you attain 8 hours of natural energy – something else that you can’t get from any other caffeine source.

So next time you plan to work out, run or do any other physical activity, give GreenCoffex® a try! But be warned – expect 8 hours of enhanced performance, concentration and focus.

Between office parties, tacky sweater parties, Secret Santa’s and any other excuse for a party, December can be downright tiring. Combine the parties with holiday shopping, family visits and cooking and most people are left in need of a boost.

That’s not even taking into consideration getting ready for the party, or hosting a party at your own house! For those who take a long time to get ready (cough, cough ladies), it can be an arduous task and a little caffeine boost may be just the thing. Preparing for an event is another tiring and stressful experience, but can be made a little easier with increased energy. And that’s where a natural energy supplement like GreenCoffex® comes into play.

Parties are a double-edged sword. If you get ready too quickly or expend too much energy at the beginning, your night will be over early. If you are too conservative or take too long getting ready, you will arrive late and everyone will leave earlier than you. That’s where a constant, sustained level of energy helps you to be at your very best – at every party.

The 8 hours of sustained natural energy GreenCoffex® provides makes it ideal for partygoers. It’s better than coffee, energy drinks and other caffeine pills because you won’t get the jitters or crash after a few hours. Friends will wonder just how you do it, and whether you tell them the secret is completely up to you!

Along with the best energy pills out there, it’s also wise to observe a few other tips that will keep you going strong at the holiday party. First off, it’s important to stay hydrated. As a general rule, try to have a glass of water every hour or with every alcoholic drink. Dehydration, among other things, will make you feel very sluggish. Make sure not to overeat, either. This will not only make you tired, but you will also regret it come January. Lastly, make an effort to get enough sleep. Not only will lack of sleep leave you feeling tired, you will most likely look that way, too!

So give GreenCoffex® a try this holiday party season. You never know, your friends might start asking why you’re so happy, look so good or notice that you’re the life of the party!

We have already detailed some of the health benefits of caffeine, but we have yet to go into depth regarding the sole ingredient of GreenCoffex® – green coffee extract. On a recent campus handout, several students looked at the brown time release granules in the capsule and asked, “what is this?” Well, that’s a great question and we are here to clear up just what exactly is in this natural energy supplement.

Green coffee extract, in its simplest form, is just as the name implies. Where traditional coffee is made from roasted coffee beans, green coffee extract is made prior to the roasting of the bean – hence the term green. Roasting a coffee bean alters the antioxidant properties, flavor and caffeine content.

Studies show that green coffee extract contains levels of polyphenols, or healthy antioxidants, similar to those found in green tea and grapes. These polyphenols, in the form of caffeic acid, have the ability to help the body fight free radicals and protect the body against the effects of aging.

”The amount of antioxidants in your body is directly proportional to how long you will live.”
– Dr. Richard Cutler, former Director of the National Institute of Aging, Washington

Many consumers are not fully aware of the health benefits of antioxidants – polyphenols included. Free radicals are molecules naturally produced by the body, but the rate at which they are produced increases through exposure to smoke, stress, pollution, asbestos, radiation and so forth. Excessively high levels of free levels can lead to a harmful condition known as oxidative stress.

While everybody has certain levels of free radicals in their body, increasing the amount of antioxidants in the body may ward off oxidative stress. In turn, the body has a higher likelihood of warding off cancer and other diseases and may also decrease the effects of aging.

The antioxidant properties of GreenCoffex® are just one of many reasons to choose the product. With all the benefits of any other caffeine supplement, like increased energy and alertness, it’s a great choice for everyone. The product costs less than a cup of coffee and packs an added antioxidant punch that you won’t find in any cup of coffee!

With final exams just around the corner, many students are looking for that extra boost to take their grades up a notch. Night owls, staying up all night cramming, and early risers, waking at dawn, both can benefit equally from a natural caffeine energy supplement. Caffeine can help reduce distractions, increase mental acuity and help keep your focus on your schoolwork.

Anyone studying knows the feeling, when there is a huge amount of work to do, you just need that added boost to get you through. Everyone has their own secret strategy. Some people isolate themselves in the library, others set up a study sanctuary at home and many students dose themselves up on coffee, energy drinks and other concoctions. Whatever can get the job done.

Speaking of studying, research has shown that caffeine is one of the most effective ways to boost academic performance. Caffeine has been shown to reduce the effects of ADHD, increase reaction time and, most importantly, help to improve test scores! With research like this, it’s little surprise that nearly every school library now has a Starbucks.

For those who have yet to discover it, GreenCoffex® is the perfect choice for students needing that extra boost. You don’t have to hit the coffee shop, spending close to $5 just for a latte. GreenCoffex® contains zero calories, has no bad aftertaste, and can be taken anytime, anywhere. Take GreenCoffex® with you and you don’t even have to get out of the chair to get your caffeine fix!

Something else GreenCoffex® provides that you can’t get from other sources is sustained, natural energy. Using our proprietary time release technology, one capsule of GreenCoffex® is 8 hours of constant caffeine that provides you plenty of time to get the work done, and there’s no crash at the end!

While we don’t suggest that you give up your tried and tested study and test taking methods, we do recommend trying GreenCoffex® to help with your academics. Leave us a comment below detailing your study routine and one lucky winner will receive a free box of GreenCoffex® – just in time for finals!

Waking up early to go Black Friday shopping this year?

Shopping tends to be very tiring at the best of times. But Black Friday shopping really takes it to another level. With five times as many shoppers scrambling around, an effective Black Friday shopper must be adequately prepared. Having the energy to wake up at 3am and brave the crowds while hopping from store to store and the mental acuity to find the best bargains is no easy task.

For the most successful of Black Friday excursions, many shoppers look for safe and effective ways to increase energy. Caffeine is the ideal ingredient for anyone looking to boost concentration, alertness and energy. With the added energy that caffeine brings, shoppers can make it to every store on their list. Tasks such as trying on clothes, pushing around heavy shopping carts and sifting through messy displays suddenly become much easier. Studies show that caffeine increases reaction time, so dodging people and traffic becomes second nature. The added alertness allows early morning shoppers to stay sharp despite limited sleep.

GreenCoffex® is a Black Friday shopper’s greatest ally. Taking a supplement such as GreenCoffex® trumps all the other sources of energy needed for a Black Friday shopping excursion. Taking a vegan capsule on the way out the door will provide 8 hours of sustained, natural energy. When compared with a cup of coffee, which may provide you with one-two hours of increased energy, GreenCoffex® allows you to stay on the go for longer.

GreenCoffex® will also save you time, energy and money. There’s no waiting in lines at overpriced coffee shops, carrying a cup from store to store restricting your shopping or having to worry about vile coffee breath. What makes GreenCoffex® better than any other caffeine pills is the time release technology, providing 8 hours of pure, unprocessed green coffee extract. The best part of taking green coffee extract capsules? There’s no crashing at the end.

We hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving. To those braving the mall on Black Friday, we wish you all the best and want to remind you not to forget your GreenCoffex®. If you’re near a Meijer store, pick some up, and if not, be sure to order online in advance!

A recent study undertaken by Dr. Alberto Ascherio at the Harvard School of Public Health found that caffeine has a direct effect on the instance of depression in women. The study collected information on 53,739 female nurses, average age 63. Dr. Ascherio followed these women for 10 years and found that the regular coffee drinkers in the group had a 20% lower risk of developing depression than those who rarely or never drank coffee.

In order to be sure the study recorded caffeine’s long-term effect, rather than immediate ones, researchers waited two full years after collecting the last dietary report from each woman to begin questions about her mental health. Throughout the study timeframe, the research team asked a variety of questions including if they had been diagnosed with or begun taking medication for depression. When Dr. Ascherio announced his findings he stressed that he doesn’t see a reason for anyone to cut down on caffeine consumption, unless it makes them feel bad.

While this study focused on coffee, the research team found similar results when looking at overall caffeine consumption (those who consumed higher levels of soda or chocolate, leading them to believe that caffeine is the important factor. It’s already been proven that caffeine helps increase energy improve your mood on a short-term basis, but the long-term positive mood effects are even more ground breaking and important.

Much research has been done as to the health benefits of caffeine and caffeine supplements over the years, but it has really just scratched the surface. Recent studies uncovered that regular use of caffeine may increase the glucose fuel level in athletes as well as exercise performance; decreases the risk of prostate cancer in men; lessens the risk of type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and dementia and reduces the chance of certain cancers and strokes.

Caffeine is found in many plants and ingested in a variety of ways. GreenCoffex uses only pure green coffee extract in each caffeine pill, delivering natural energy and ensuring that other ingredients don’t cancel out the large number of benefits caffeine already has in nature.

We can’t even begin to guess what other benefits of caffeine researchers will uncover next, but we bet they’ll be great!

Natural Foods Merchandiser recently published an article entitled Energy drink formulators favor sustained energy ingredients discussing the move away from quick jolt energy solutions towards work-focused energy supplements. GreenCoffex is leading this trend with its time release technology that allows for up to eight hours of sustained energy.

While Red Bull and other similar energy drinks are popular with younger audiences who want an immediate burst of energy, there is a large group of college students and adults who are looking for an energy supplement to help them stay alert and focused for a marathon study session, 10K race or full work day. According to the article, energy drinks like Red Bull provide “energy support,” rather than “sustained energy.”

The long lasting energy category first took off with 5-Hour Energy. This product and other similar ones contain ribose and/or niacin, which some people have sensitivities to, as a means to increase energy levels over a long period of time. GreenCoffex avoids unnecessary and excess ingredients by using a patented time release technology that releases multiple levels of caffeine in the body at specified times, so it provides increased natural energy for up to eight hours.

GreenCoffex took a good, hard look at why consumers take energy supplements and caffeine pills and found that it’s not for the quick burn of energy but, rather, to allow them to stay awake and provide increased energy for a longer period of time. In addition, we found that many people shied away from products that had unknown ingredients sometimes harmful to consumers. So GreenCoffex was developed as a natural energy supplement with just a few ingredients that consumers can feel good about taking. More on the ingredient breakdown in the next blog post!

According to Wikipedia, 90% of adults in North America consume caffeine daily. In fact it’s the most popular stimulant on the planet. In current times, caffeine is used with a number of different delivery systems including, coffee, tea, soda, energy drinks, supplements and can be found in other everyday products such as chocolate, pain medication and some fruit. But where did it come from? And how did it gain this overwhelming popularity?

“The earliest record of caffeine consumption dates back to around 2700 B.C., when Chinese Emperor Shen Nung drank strong, hot brewed tea,” according to Livestrong.com. “Coffee originated in Africa around 575 A.D., where beans were used as money and consumed as food.”

The first discovery of the coffee bean is surrounded by many stories, but most maintain that it originated in Ethiopia and was first eaten by goats. When the goat herder saw the animals’ energetic reaction to the strange berry, he tried it as well and experienced the same vitality.

The coffee bean made its way to Europe in the 17th century, as legend has it, after the Ottoman Turks retreated from the walls of Vienna leaving many sacks of coffee beans behind. The people of Vienna learned to create beverages out of it, including coffee, which was first known in this area as “Arabian wine.”

Today’s caffeinated beverages are much different than those of the past – Image courtesy of Pen Waggener flicker/cc license

In the 18th century, many Americans made the switch from tea to coffee after the Tea Act was implemented, which imposed high taxes on tea imported from Europe. Americans still wanted caffeine, but didn’t want to pay their former government the excess tax money. The world’s first caffeinated soft drinks were created in the 1880s and in 1958, the U.S. FDA announced that caffeine was “Generally Recognized As Safe” (GRAS).

Over thousands of years, caffeine has come a long way. It has been implemented into many forms and used for rituals, as money, in foods, drinks and, most frequently, as an important source of energy for the body. Through tests and trials, scientists have found safe ways to extract caffeine into its pure form. This is what is found in each GreenCoffex capsule: caffeine extract from Colombian green coffee beans. In this pure form, caffeine provides energy without any unwanted calories or side effects.

Some other things you can do to stay awake – naturally:

1. Get Up and Move Around

If you sit at a desk for long periods of time each day, it’s important to get up frequently for short walks. If you’re able to walk outside, even better, but even taking deep breaths while walking down a hallway for 5-10 minutes will help with increasing energy.

2. Eat a Healthy Snack

While sugary snacks may seem like a good quick fix, a “sugar high” will inevitably end quickly followed by a “sugar low,” a feeling of tiredness and mental fogginess. Eating too much will certainly have you snoozing, but munching on some light healthy snacks will help improve energy, without leading to a crash:

A handful of nuts or sunflower seeds

Fresh fruit, such as an apple or orange

Raisins

A small carton of yogurt

3. Use Your Sense of Smell

Strong scents can often increase alertness immediately. You can use scented candles or even spices found in your kitchen to help you stay awake. Here are some scents that work well:

Rosemary

Peppermint

Coffee (yes, even just the smell can help perk you up)

Chili powder

4. Acupressure

There are certain points on your body where applying pressure can improve circulation and increase energy. Try massaging or pushing down on the following areas:

The skin between your thumb and index finger (squeeze)

The back of your neck, where your neck meets your head

Your earlobes (squeeze at the bottom)

5. Listen to high-energy music

If you can do so without bothering those around you, sing along or dance (while sitting or standing). The upbeat rhythm and movement will help you stay awake and energized.
